a little question...!!!??? (but quite long!)

i'm just wondering if anyone can do this diet or wether you need Drs permission? I have got myself all geared up to do a VLCD and had met with a cambridge diet councillor but because a) my BMI is over 40:cry:and b)i have an overactive thyroid i had to get a signature. She refused to sign her MAIN REASON is she doesn't agree with these diets, that i'll put the weight back on as soon as i eat normally and said i should just exercise more and get a personal trainer. i tried to explain, (through my sobbing) that i'm too embarressed by my size at the mo which she didn't understand and told me she thinks that i'm using it as an excuse.

I'm desperate to lose weight and have tried ww and sw but got no where. Do you think i could try exante?

sorry for long boring post...new to this!

Hi Pinkbutterfly,

I just read your thread on the CD board, and wanted to say that i think your DR is unfair. With all this obesity epidemic and the NHS funds running dry surely you would be encouraged to lose some weight by your DR.

Anyway, back to Exante. To do any of the plans it states you can't be taking any medication. From what i've read on the boards loads of people with underactice thyroid embark on VLCD's without any problems whatsoever.
You could always call the Exante helpline for advice.

It's a great plan to follow, identical to CD. Order online and it's here the next day.

Hi Pinkbutterfly
It might be worth speaking to your CD counsellor as they sometimes have lists of GPs who are sympathetic to vlcds. i think the main problem with people on medication is that they have to be closely monitored because sometimes it has to be adjusted. Before embarking on CD I had a very snooty GP who basically told me I was wasting my and his time. Do not let them defeat you!! xx
