:)Hi all, I am 4 days in taking 120mg Xenical prescribed by my doctor, I have been very good sticking to a very low fat diet so far having none of those nasty side effects apart from wind and a painful tummy. I am eating no more than an average of 10g fat per meal and sometimes a lot less, I have switched beefmeat for soya and had lean turkey grilled with jacket pots, don't know if I should have noticed more differences in the bowel habits but actually haven't been...at all...always was a bit sluggish. I did have a few vodkas over the weekend which made me very sick and gave me headache, I don't usually suffer with hangovers so this was a shock.....moral of that story...don't drink vodka:cry:..lol
I would be grateful if anyone out there inxenical land could tell me how much I should expect to loose, I am sticking to a 1000-1200 cal a day and fat as said before, I don't have scales that work so will be weighing in at the Drs when I go in 3 weeks.
Look forward to hearing from you

Hi and welcome to planet xenical!

It sounds like you already have a good idea of the food choices you should be making.

I have found my bowels were more sluggish when first taking the tabs, along with the bloated tummy but it soon goes.

The headache could have been caused by the tabs as this too was something i found and in hindsight was probably caused by the tabs at the outset.

I dont really want to 'guesstimate' how much you can expect to lose as everyone is different, but to reassure you, you WILL lose.

Good luck x

Headaches, bloated tummy and sluggish bowels are the side effects I am suffering from. Am only on day 2, so hoping these will go soon.

No idea about weight loss, but Monday will be the telling time.

Hope you find the site helpful, I find it is great. Really need the virtual support

See you around.

:welcome2:

Hello and welcome!!

I took was bloated and constipated for a while when I first strted taking the tablets. I fount activia yoghurts really helped move my bowels so to speak! lol Or you could try eating more good old greens!!:greenapple:

Im no expert but i think 1000 cals is maybe a little low as i usually find if I dont have enough calories I start picking and end up going off the rails due to feeling deprived lol. Maybe you could find a calorie counter which can work out how many calories you will be able to consume and loose weight. It will take into account how active you are, how tall, how much you weigh etc.

Good luck on your journey

Love Katie

Hiya and welcome to the forum, look forward to getting to know you through your weight loss journey :)

I think everyone reacts differently to the Xenical RE weightloss some lose large amounts raidly and others a bit more slowly and steadily, the important thing is to try and not compare your losses to someone elses as we're all very different and remeber a loss is a loss. As someone said before it sounds like you know the sort of food decisions to make, veg does pack out a meal well and will encourage those sluggish bowels. Also try increasing any form of activity levels as that will help move things along.

Thanks for all your replies, I haven't got any scales so I guess (and hope )it will be a pleasant surprise when I return to the Drs to renew my prescription. I am quite active as I have 2 dogs which I walk daily and am lucky enough to live by a sea loch on Skye so I go sailing regulary too, in fact thats the annoying thing I am far more active than I was in my younger years but since hitting the dreaded 40 I seem to just hang on to fat like anything and it just won't shift for toffee...lol, bowel habits are sort of normal again , none of these oily things I keep reading about. Anyway it will be a week on these tablets tomorrow and a week of eating better so onwards and downwards.

Hi Skyegirl, hopefully if you stick the fat rule, you'll never have to experience the dreaded orange oil! It's not nice! Haha.. Being active is great, so the focus for you should be the eating side of it, make sure you've got healthy snacks ready incase you fancy something to munch on. If you stick to all the rules, you should have no problem dropping the pounds! :)

Keep us updated on how you're getting on! x

Welcome & Good Luck! x

Welcome and congrats on starting xenical.

I think you have the gist of the diet and if you stick to the fat rule you wont have any side effects, they only happen if you stray.

In relation to the calories, I believe the same as Kay if may not be enough, I am eatin 1600 a day and am 37 and currently 19 1/2 stone, I know the calories decrease as we age but it may be worth you looking into what is a usual calorie rda then bear that this will be for maintenance not losing weight.

I have found my Free Calorie Counter, Diet & Exercise Journal - MyFitnessPal.com is a fab tool for keeping track of calories, fat and any other nutrients you want to track. i t also guided me to me calorie intake of 1600 a day based on my weight, age etc...

Look forward to chatting with you more. xx
