Tooth Whitening?

Coley

Re-starter
Hellllooooooooo.......Has anyone had their teeth professionally whitened?

I've tried the usual, toothpastes and mouth trays but still my teeth are a horrible yellowish colour.

I don't smoke so can't be that, no coffee for me and wine veeeeeeeery occassionally. I think I must just have weird teeth.

Can anyone recommend a type of whitening? There are so many types!!

Hi Coley,

have u tried:

Vitint - safe and white whitening gel ?

I haven't yet but one of my step sons uses it and his teeth are really white !:D Just like that ! He gets it from his dentist in Brighton though so I am not sure how available it is but I want to give it a try !

Have thought about the professionally done job but don't know much about it so hope someone in the know comes along

:) Melissa

i've looked into something called zoom whitening which costs around £350-£400. the results are instant. it's whitening gel and laser treatment. takes about an hour at the dentist. seems you only get to pay in installments when you spend £500 or more though so i'm still thinking about it! very keen though, especially as i gave up smoking 8 months ago and i have saved twice that in not buying fags. not that i have £800 hanging around in a jam jar, sadly...

I've tried a few whitening gels...some with 22% bleach stuff, no joy. Tried a few whitening pens...again......no joy. Not heard of that Vitint - think it might be German?

I looked into Zoom whitening, but seems that BriteSmile gives better results. More shades lighter etc.

I don't have pennies sitting about either...but I do have a credit card.....:)

is britesmile the same kinda thing? same kinda price?
my teeth are awful but that'll be years of smoking, drinking coffee and red wine!
some people just have yellower teeth naturally. life aint fair!
x

yeah...same kinda thing...been looking at some more stuff...initially it seemed britesmile would give you lighter shades, up to about 15, but the more I look the more I see about 8 shades ligher. being the norm.......about the same pricing too

nooooooooooo dnt do it....as a student hygienist/therapist i advise you all not to do it. The only beneficial affects is the whitness but there are more disadvantages to it than advantages. For example it destroys the top layer of enamel on your teeth and makes the enamel "rougher" n thats makes plaque stick to it much easier! this is turn means your more likely to suffer from decay or gum disease. But the only thing i would say if you are goin to have it down you must have a meticulous oral hygiene routine - brush twice a day PROPERLY use floss/interdental aids(tepes) and make sure there is plenty of flouride in your toothpaste and when brushing just spit n dnt rinse your mouth out!

(im sorry for the rant - im in my element lol)

I hope that doesnt scare you's too much but just think about it! :D

do you mean bleaching or bleaching with laser treatment? because if it's so bad for your teeth, why do most dentists offer it? and it is surely better to have a dentist do it prfessionally than to do it yourself at home?

i appreciate your advice but basically im not preapred to have yellow teeth forever so i'd like to know what is the safest way to go about whitening?

thanks x

basically its safe but most dentists will not give you the lecture beforehand (im sure the thought of all that money theyre gona get distracts them hehe)... if your gona do it you just have to make sure that your cleaning routine is spot on.
I no how you feel i wish i could just give myself a real good scale n polish n that would work but it dnt work on all types of stainin unfortunately!!

Also im pretty sure that the home stuff you use to do your teeth is nowhere near as strong as the stuff that the dentist uses
so even if ya tried that before hand because they may work n it would save ya a pile of money too!!

hey coley you have white teeth...me n erin have discussed this and we see no problemo wit them...ur teeth are whiter than mine!!! but i will inspect further next time i see ya hehe

I AM YOUR STALKER hahaha

i use rapid white teeth - it made my teeth whiter - and partner but it took at least three week s to get where i wanted to -
i got my in boots - but different people - different teeth x good luck!

I tried the zoom thing and only got a few shades lighter nothing dramatic in my case. My dentist friend says that it doesn't work for about 20%. I'm going to try crest whitestrips supreme for ease of use.

I just use Pearl drops toothpolish, I takes about 3 weeks to gt 2 shades lighter but it doesn't harm your teeth at all and works for EVERYONE. Just thought I'd give my opinion lol.

xxxxx

You might have heard about teeth whitening and cosmetic dentistry and about what they can do. Therefore, you figure out that you would look better with a brighter smile and you want to go and try one of the whitening methods. Before you do something too hasty that might end up with not so good results for you, you should look for some teeth whitening advice. Spending some time looking for the method that suits you best might save you a lot of money and problems; because no matter how simple such a dentistry procedure might seem, it can backfire on you. For example, when you start a whitening procedure, something might happen and your teeth might reject the product used, so the treatment will not work and your teeth might have to suffer, or the chemicals in the product might harm your gums. This is how spending a few minutes looking for some piece of advice on the matter can save you from a lot of grief.

My daughter mentioned this post to me, maybe I need it and never knew?
(Just browsing the posts for inspiration, just about to start the Lighterlife programme, end of month.)
