Cooking with alcohol! Do you syn it?

If you cook with alcohol the alcohol burns off so does the wine etc still have as many, if any, syns?

If I put a dash of wine in a tomato sauce, I usually don't syn it, but if it's anything more than about half a glass, then I will 'fess up and syn. Better to over-allocate syns than underestimate I think!

Oh darn it, lol! Syn it I shall! On another post Ive put how ive made a beef stew with a glass of wine and my mother in law who we live with and is doing slimming world, just queried whether the wine would be syned or not!

I would just to be on the safe side. I generally syn everything but realised recently I was being a muppet whenever I was adding 'extras' into SW recipes/using own recipes. Say I was adding something with 4 syns to a recipe that SW said was 4 syns a serving, I'd add 4 onto it, making it 8, when in fact it was 6 (as OH had half the meal). I was diddling self massively! So yes, syn it, but don't overly syn it like I was doing! Hehe x

I don't usually syn it as I thought the sugars in the wine were turned to alcohol and it you are actually burning the alcohol off and not just cooking with it then is there in fact anything left to syn other than just flavour. Maybe I should start syning it now you got me wondering.

Actually, I've heard the alcohol doesn't burn off... not as much as you'd think... I'd syn it.

I think if you cook with wine but pour it in your mouth rather than the dish it's free?

Yes?

No?

Hmmm......

Me thinks you could be right, :D!
