LOVING MY WATER
Hi, I'm on day 5 of Atkins & I feel SO ALIVE :Dtoday, especially after the last three days thinking I had Swine Flu, lol!!!!;) I've lost 5lbs and I can't understand why I didn't try this way of eating YEARS ago!
Okay now I'm already worried about food boredom but I've been looking at 'alterntives' to carby foods on the recipes thread and looked at before & after pics so I know it can be done. If anyone who's lost 7+ stone (I need to lose 91!!) could offer me some advice I would really appeciate it. Thanks,
xxxxxsharon

Hiya voodoo & welcome, i cant offer any advice hun as i'm still an Atkins :newbie: myself ( its day 9 for me ). Good luck with the diet and as laura said there is plenty of support here.

Ooooh thanks both of you, I've only just finished editing my sig from when I was on the Cambridge diet forum here a couple of years ago. Never expected replies so soon!!!lol.
How are you both finding it?

Hiya Sharon, welcome to the Atkins board. :wavey:

That first rush of energy is great, isn't it? Good luck with your Atkins journey, with a bit of will power I'm sure you'll get there.

My tip for avoiding food boredom is to make sure you've got a good stock of herbs, spices, oils, stocks and flavourings in the cupboard and make the effort to marinade your meats for a while before cooking, it really makes all the difference.

Hello & welcome voodoo, I can't give you any advice because I am feeling my way myself. There are lot's more lovely experienced Atkins followers here and I'm sure you have only to ask. Have you read the stickies at the top of the page? There is a lot of help in them.

Wrinkly; which I'm sure you're not, lol; thanks, yes I've read lots of recipes & the 'Atkins for Dummies'-type guide. I wanted to chat with newbies like myself AND long-term Atkins-ers just to chat about anything & everything; compare recipes, losses, feelings, ups, down & anything else, even non-Atkins stuff. Are you up for it...is anyone else?

Hi Voodoo and welcome. I'm quite new myself, 2 weeks now. Seems to be working, Can't believe the amount I get to eat and still lose! Check out Viks' marshmallow thread - it has a link to a good website with loads of recipes.
This site is great if you want congrats or a kick up the bum - your wish, our command - but we'll be asking the same in return!
Happy browsing! X

Jar I did the IPD but on the third week (after losing 8-10lbs, I forget which) I GAINED & got so angry I went back to my bad old eating habits ('carb central' -crisps, bread, pasta AND cheese & booze) and gained about another stone+ BAD ME!!
How are you finding the IPD, my mate has lost 6 stones in about 6-7 months & only needs to lose another 1-2 stone now. I laughed so much reading the book I cried, they certainly know how fat women feel, don't they? (not saying you're fat or anything, lol, sorry!!)
Just cooking the Sunday dinner, roast chicken with all the roast veg. I'm having steamed cabbage, garlic roast chicken, a tiny bit of roast red pepper & a dribble or Marigold bouillion, sans stuffing...sigh.. not that I mind, losing weight & eating butter etc is well worth missing a few things!

Hi, only about 2 weeks in, I liked the book, and yes, I did identify wth it, and no, no offence - I am a fat woman!
I love butter - bit weird not having it with bread but with spinach - yum! I love having cold meat in the fridge - no guilt when snacking! And I'm enjoying coffee with cream, even if decaf goes against my beliefs! The sugar cravings pretty much disappeared by the end of the first week and if I do fancy something (choc buttons at the moment) I just ask myself - chocolate or slim? That usually helps. Long term health vs short term pleasure.
Your dinner sounds lovely - we're having cold cuts tonight. It's quite muggy here, dont fancy anything hot!

Hello fellow newbie :)

Im two weeks into atkins and enjoying it very much.

Nightmare happened today my cooker has gone kaput!

So ha a drive miles to asda to get some cooked meat or just something i cooked eat with out cooking :-(

Came home with ham on the joint yummy yumm yumm!! and ribs for the OH.

Rubbish news about your cooker! Hope you get it sorted soon. Can you 'borrow' a neighbours? Or have you seen those halogen ovens? they sit on the counter top and you can cook almost anything in them.

Hi Sharon, welcome love. :wavey: I'm up for advice anytime love.

Morning voodoo and rest of the bunch :D

I'm also new but i'm sure we can all find our way together. I kinda made a :booboo: in my second week so now i'm going back to basics and i'm going to stop getting carried away with myself.

Vicks - Sorry to hear about the cooker, hope you manage to get one sorted soon.

How are you all today ?

Weather is looking good here today, i hope it stays that way so the kids can play out. I'm going to have a work out in a mo (OH bought me a him a weights bench last week ) then i think i better get my self into action as i need to go and help my mum and dad strip some wallpaper off in this new house they are going to be moving into and OMG what a mess it is. Gives me a headache just looking at it lol.

Viks, so bad about the cooker, good thing it's not cold weather & you can enjoy salads & cold meats.
Jim, yes I read your advice, much easier to digest than the book (why wasn't it written in phases/stages so you know where you are?). I'm so amazed at your progress, so expect a few questions from me! lol
Thanks everyone, it's so good to 'chat'!

Morning Sarah, ask away love.

Morning all

Well took myself,OH and DS to the pool yesterday to do some lengths and have some fun. 10 minutes into the swim whistle blows and everyone is ordered out of the pool

OH asks the life guard while the whole pool huddles in the shower area.
Someone pooed in the pool!!

Que the mass run for the shampoo and soap to secure a shower. Horrible.:sigh:

And yes im now cooking on a single gas hob but at least i can have scrambled egg and bacon now!!

Will have to go cooker shopping asap.

On a nicer note, that evening we went a drive into the lammermuir hills and came across a community woods. It was lovely. nice woodland walk, wood log gates and woven reed fencing, an outdoor toilet with all mod cons..ie toilet paper washbowl with pitcher of water and sawdust to throw down the toilet(hole). Lots of woody houses with grass roofs, horses a veg/herb garden . Lovely made me want to go all ECO living

LOL, sounds nice Viks. :D

Viks ICK!!! about the poo, I can't imagine how vile that was for you! Hey at least you're cooking, one hob meals can be quite fun, throwing stuff in. Is it a built-in one or freestanding (just curious)?
Well I'm SO FED UP with hanging washing out only to fetch it in a few minutes later! I'm in school tomorrow (I trained as a primary teacher but never finished the degree off, got an English lit degree instead, now I volunteer in a secondary school. I WAS going to do a PGCE in secondary but after 15 minutes in class I decided to try it out as a teaching assistant) I'm hoping to be applying for jobs in September now I'm used to this age & what goes off in classrooms. (believe me there are some kids who could do with 'the slipper' or 'the cane')

What age group is that Sharon?

I'd never last as a School Teacher, one wrong look and they'd get a slap around the head. Like when I was at school. :D
