Buying clothes

What do the rest of you do about this while on CD?

Most of my clothes fit me at my current size. I have never been in denial and know that clothes that fit always look better than tight things no matter what your size. So the vast majority of my clothes are a 22/24. As an aside - I desperately need new bras as mine are falling apart but am now refusing to buy new ones as I know they won't fit for long.

I do have a few things in a 20 which I have never had the heart to throw away.

Once I get smaller than that though, I have nothing! Because the weight drops off so fast on this diet I don't want to spend a fortune on clothes each time I go down a size for them not to fit a month later!

What do you guys do? Just buy a few things each time you go down a size?

It is a really hard one!!
I have been buying clothes none stop!!! I have turned into a shopaholic..... but I must say.. I have changed size roughly every month......
So started at an 18 and now a 10!!! Its hard but its the best feeling ever going into the shops and buying clothes and liking what you see.. You can always sell them on ebay after....

Oo yeah actually ebay is a good idea especially for the larger clothes - they seem to sell really well.

I bought some new work trousers after about 6 weeks as the others were getting ridiculous. I have then bought some summer clothes in smaller sizes from supermarkets and Peacocks - in all honesty they probably wouldn't last more than a summer.

I also got a couple of new bras once the too small ones in my drawer no longer fit - and that made a real difference to how I looked and felt. Plus, once you can get into smaller sizes that fit it does wonders for your confidence and compliments. Even my CDC mentioned it yesterday that I looked so much smaller as the clothes that I was wearing were the right size. Good luck with your weight loss.

Hello, i tend to shop in low cost stores like asda/tesco for my clothes and if im tempted to splash the cash and buy from another store when the item i purchased no longer fits it goes on to ebay, also try your local charity stores they some times have nice items in them

So far I haven't had a problem with too loose clothing. I can still wear all the bigger sizes and it doesn't matter to me that they're.. well big.

I have a whole lot of smaller sizes in my closet though. Things I bought when I was like 16.. << I'm 22 now. I was a couple of sizes smaller than so I suppose I will be able to use that clothing on my journey down.
I've also got some sort of trading with my youngest sister. She gives me her smaller sizes and I give her my bigger sizes.
Don't feel like spending too much money until I reach my goal. :3

Hi,

I agree with the cheaper end idea and charity shops until you get to target as you want to save your money for the 'big splurge' What I noticed when I lost 4 stone on LL was, that it took me quite a while to get 'my style' sorted out. After ages of buying clothes because they fit and are black! it took me quite a few mistakes to dress in something that suited me instead of just because I felt so good I could get it on. You will need to spend a lot of time in changing rooms and hopefully take an honest friend with you!

On the subject of shopping (my personal fave!) today I was out and about in town and saw that Debenhams had a 70% sale on....well it would have been rude to walk by. I went to the Principles bit and they actually had everything at 70% off which was amazing and bril value, so....
I bought a few items in the size I'm going to be, hopefully by September and I've hung them up as inspiration for me, should I feel the need to nibble. Am I daft? Oh, who cares, it has cheered me up, spurred me on and cost under £40 for £176 worth of clothes.

Second (third?!) the supermarkets/cheap shops idea. I bought a couple of pairs of trousers in New Look for work and they will do until I get where I'm going. Tshirts etc I get from supermarkets. I've had to give up on wearing suits and jackets to work until I lose a bit more, I've nothing that fits in my current size and I'm damned if I'm buying a whole suit that will last a month. I will ditch, charity or sell them as they get too big. Tell you what though it really notices when you wear clothes that fit instead of big baggy things - I lost a stone and nobody noticed, lost half a stone and got into smaller trousers and suddenly everyone is asking me if I've lost weight. Its worth it for confidence factor! (Unless you want to do a 'big reveal' at the end when you suddenly stop wearing clothes three sizes or more too big?!)

I plan to keep my "fat day" trousers. My biggest pair of jeans are a size 24 and I wore them the day I met my CDC in order to have my picture taken. I plan to wear them whenever she takes a pic, no matter how much I've lost. I will take them with me and just put them on for the pic if necessary!

I'm planning to get to goal around Christmas time, and my birthday is mid September. So I'm just going to ask for money, or vouchers. And then try and save some cash too. And then have an at goal shopping trip!

I am currently a size 15 on the bottom - my 16 trousers are far too big on the waist but my 14's are too tight on the thighs !!!!
I am going to try and make do with what I have until I am a 14 officially (bottom and top) as I can't afford a whole new wardrobe every month.

I am looking forward to going and buying a 12 one day !

i just bought 3 pairs of french connection trousers in a size 14, they were all half price or less in the sale. i am not going to get to a 12 on bottom, so would rather be a comfortable 14 instead of a tight 12. i have been buying clothes in those sizes for a couple of months so i dont have to save up and buy everything at once.

i got a pair of size 12/14 7 for all mankind skinny jeans at selfridges the other day for £50 down from £150 though! mega bargain! they were meant for me.

I've kept my 'fat trousers' too - a pair of cut offs. They are 'drop offs' now, and that's only 20lb down. When I did LL I kept a pair of trousers and by the end could more or less get into one leg of them.

i have one pair of trousers from evans in a size 22 and they are ridiculously big now, i love putting them on and seeing how much space is in them! i hang them over my cupboard next to my dream jeans for comparison and to keep me on the straight and narrow!

I can't afford to buy anything new. At the moment some of my clothes are loose on me. I had a funny moment in dance class last night when I felt my elasticated size 14 trousers were slipping! They wouldn't have fallen off, it's because my waist is shrinking I guess. It didn't half make me feel good though. I still have a few size 14 tops which thanks to my bust still look a little tight so as I lose more weight I will wear them. Anything else, it's a case of getting out the sewing machine or needle and thread to take things in a bit.
