Hi all,
I am due for gastric band surgery tomorrow at Dolan Park with Mr Sigurdsson. I was originally booked with Mr Richardson for Friday but it was brought forward by one day. Thanks to this great forum (and other checks I made) I am happy enough with the change of surgeon. Over the years I have had many surgeries, being a bit of a protester against growing old gracefully, and even succumbed to an abdominoplasty a few years ago when I was at the good end of one of my yoyo diets! I am pretty nervous about the op tomorrow as I must probably be one of the oldest contenders, but having been through a lifetime of dieting and having a wardrobe full of clothes ranging from size 10 to 22 (which I won't get rid of 'just in case') I want to diet once more and keep the weight off this time.
I was pretty hacked off at having to be at the hospital for 7.30am as the first train out of London is not 'til 6am meaning I would arrive 30 minutes late, so I opted for the midnight coach from Victoria (which I booked through National Express and got a one-way ticket for an incredible £3!!) then booked a taxi from Atlas cars in Digbeth (almost opposite the coach station) for £25 quid (a bargain as others wanted to charge £40-50) to arrive at the hospital for 4.45am. I figured it was better to arrive early rather than hang around the coach station at that time of the day. My hubby was then going to drive up and pick me up on the saturday morning. However, due to the cancellation THG are picking up the cost of a taxi both ways (bonus!). I booked my surgery through WGA at £4,900, much cheaper than THG who are the same people, I opted for the first fill but will probably look to get fills done elsewhere, I might try my GP to suggest someone and maybe she will take pity on me and help with the dietician too! I hope the travel information helps anyone else coming from London as I got quite frustrated trying to make my arrangements. Having read lots of threads on this site I am feeling supported already. Is there anyone else out there of the older generation who has undergone this?
Teri x:)
