Domino's Disaster

Well, I was in a situation yesterday where a Domino's was inevitable.

So, I whipped out my Windows mobile phone and downloaded the nutritional information from their website. I found that a personal Piri-Piri pizza had 20 cals more than the evening meal I'd normally have, and wasn't a carb disaster. You can even get low-fat mozarella cheese so I thought this would be the one to get, for damage limitation and then work hard for the rest of the week.

But wait, if I ordered a medium size pizza I could get it in thin crust, four slices of that would add up to even less calories.

So the pizza arrived, everyone else was eating and enjoying theirs, and mine was very tasty.

You can see where this went...

So 900 calories and 80g of carbs later I'm feeling bloated and over-full. And my stomach gurgled and complained for the rest of the night, and mentally I'm feeling stupid and that I haven't learned a thing when the crunch came. And it definately wasn't worth it come the cold light of day.

I wouldn't care, if I *had* ordered the personal one I'd have had the four slices and just stopped there...

Anyway, gotta put it behind me and move on. Trouble is, it's a family member's 18th birthday tomorrow and it's BBQ time once again. I'll be good though, like the last one.

what plan you on mate?
Cant you take your shakes with you and then stick to chicken and salad at the BBQ???
xx

You're up early! You've got kids too, haven't you? :D

1000 cals. BBQ should be fine, party is on the afternoon/evening so I'll just have my morning shake in a mo, and my soup before I go. I'll store up my fruit allowance then just have some chicken and veg and fruit at the party. I don't drink so there's no issues with wanting booze.

I'll be fine not to pick, I feel bad after yesterday's lapse and I'm determined not to do that one again, now I've actually done it I can see myself it's not worth it...

i think for some that blip can be the start of the rest of their lives!
Its the most expensive pizza you will ever have eaten, and in the long run, just isnt worth feeling guilty over...plenty of time to have a pizza when your at goal and able to have a more balanaced view of food...
As you say, its done and dusted now, so put it behind you and make sure that you learn from it for the future.....turn that negative into a positive by making sure you never do it again becuase you know how sh&te it made you feel

you've still lost a lot of weight in a short space of time, so your brain will take a while to catch up with the new slimmer you!

Yup, 3 year old little girl who was yelling "BEEBIES" in my ear at 6 o clock this morning! Rat bag!!! :D

It's funny because I was talking with Mrs L about it later and we wondered how we used to do that sort of thing sometimes 2-3 times a week in the past...

The way I see it, being skinny can't be a prison sentence. I know it can't be constant pizzas and cookies and roast dinners and puddings, but a takeaway on payday (monthly), or the odd BBQ in with a properly balanced menu and exercise the rest of the time shouldn't be a problem.

Hah, yeah our baby (11 months) woke our three year old up at 6am when he wanted changing, so up I got. Mrs L having a lie-in, I'll get one tomorrow :D So now we've got Milkshake on the telly...

What made it worse is our five year old had a bad dream and came in with us, and of course he tossed and turned and kept us awake, so I didn't get much sleep either.

Kids are crazy :D

kids should be banned!!! I long for the days when we used to lie in bed till lunchtime watching Soccar AM!!! :D Freya wont let us have none of it!
Feeling for you having 3 with all different sleeping patterns....We're sticking with just the one....and thats hard enough so all credit to you! lol. And even more so for letting the Mrs have a lie-in! Major brownie points there!

i cant fathom the amount of money we used to spend on take-aways or eating out...usually 2 take aways a WEEK and then eating out on a saturday...so about £40 a week...plus food in the weekly shop...its shocking, without even starting to think of all the Fat i was consuming...its gross!

I look forward to being able to have a take-away, but then not only have to compensate for a week to make up for it, but also be able to go to the gym to burn it all off....i never truely understood that my eating habits has consequences....now i will! :D

Yeah, it's crazy when you think of it like that. We used to do maybe two take aways a week, so probably about £40 a week like you say, plus roast dinner at my mother's house on Sundays, she'd usually get the cheese and crackers out on the afternoon too...

When I was travelling more at work they'd expense your meals so it'd be a bacon butty at some roadside place for breakfast, a 'flamethrower' for lunch (baton filled with chicken, fried onions and peppers, topped with cheese and hot sauce and then toasted off with a blow-torch, yummy) and then if staying overnight it's be a hotel meal on the evening and a fried breakfast the following morning and another flamethrower for lunch. Then a takeaway if I was home late.

And when you add in all the fridge picking yeah, it *is* gross when you think about it. I guess that was part of the problem: I *didn't* think about it...

It's not just people with kids up early. I've been awake/up since 7:30 because someone goes past every morning with their dogs barking incessantly - drives me mad!

Having said that I can't sleep past when I get up for work normally :)

I have a cat called Frejya, Lizz!

Its funny isn't it how its only when you're not eating all the junk, you can really begin to understand just how bad for you it is, as opposed to all the excuses we used to make to get away with having it so often. Like you say its not the 'odd' takeaway thats the problem, its the 2 or 3etc. that pile on the pounds. At least you've got the right attitude to get back on the bandwagon and not let it stop you achieving your goal. Good on you.
I'm with you on the kids + sleep thing, my 3yr old DD has always been useless at sleep. Recently moved her wake up time to as early as 4.30am for me, I am so not impressed. Yet, I have just returned from a night shift, ready to go to bed and suprise, suprise,- she is in bed with my OH fast asleep still! Grrrrr...... xx

another one not with Kids, this time the canine's are in the house and demanding to be walked!!
If we are to succeed its a balance, that the way I can keep going.

How you easily forget about those early mornings once the kids are up a bit!
However, we had a late night last night and i'm just up. Got to bed about 2 and woke at usual 7ish so i forced myself to lie on and feeling much better for it now. My OH will sleep til lunch (he works night shift and finds it really hard to get up at the weekend) and my two daughters are sound asleep. The eldest used to be up at the crack of dawn but now "I'm a teenager, its what we do", "I'm so tired", "I'm very bed friendly"!!!!!
So, you've only got another 10is years to go with the earlies and then you can lie in!!

It gets better you guys...my daughter is nearly 14 and she is outside washing my car....:)
Jim I think it takes practice when we decide to dip back into the real world of food after the initial CD start. I had a trade event a few weeks back and for the first few days did well with taking shakes, chicken salad etc but as the days wore on I got worse at organising my food and having the right stuff prepared...ate carbs...lost the ketosis and then a week messing about to get back. Another trade event coming up so now I am more aware of the pitfalls and will do better!!! I have lost weight this week which has really boosted my mood and I think things will be OK. Have a fun BBQ, you sound resolved to handle it really well.
