Are you making progress?

I'd just like to leave you with a small tip today that is GUARANTEED to help you with your exercise.

Create a recording log of what you do in your workout.

It is SO important to do this no matter what your goal is, and 90% of people don't.

you must be able to see what you've accomplished in order to progress. All it needs to be is a small piece of paper with a few headings such as the names of the resistance exercises you are doing, and just write what you managed that day. The next workout, you see what you did last time and then you know exactly how much you need to do to improve your fitness (I.e - an extra rep on each exercise, two minutes extra on the treadmill, one Level higher on the bike etc.)

You will also see your progress before your very eyes as you compare and look over your recording logs. you will see that a month ago you couldn't cycle for 30 minutes but now you can, that you couldn't lift a 20kg weight but now you can and so on. Its a great motivator but it is the organisation and structure it gives your exercise regime that is almost CRITICAL to success.

You can't get somewhere if you don't know where you currently are, or if you don't know where you've come from.

It is easy to do, just buy a small note pad and fill a page with your exercise results for each day. I promise this will help you!

All the best,

Justin

Funnily enough, (being a reformed couch potato!) I keep a fitlog every week. Slimming World encourage their members to exercise and give awards for sustained programmes of exercise, just a sticker and certificate but it's encouraging how many of the "women of a certain age" are on their bikes and power walking. I used to go to a gym so I was used to having a programme card to fill in and regular reviews, so thats what I've set up in a small notebook, and it's easy to see my progress.

If anyone has an iPod touch or an iPhone then there is this great app called iFitness. There are thousands of exercises on it and you can record your progress and it makes you graphs of your progress. Also there are ready made exercise plans or you can make your own! It's really good and well worth getting, I use it a lot. It's only a couple of quid too
