Pasta Carbonara

Hi all,

Does anybody have a good recipe for carbonara? I'm wanting it on a green day so pasta would be free, use bacon as a healthy extra and parmesan as a healthy extra but don't know how to make the sauce from scratch instead of using a jar which is full of sins.

Thanks

Hi, someone told me that to make the authentic Italian carabonara all you need is spaghetti, bacon and an egg.

I have made this twice before and I love it and spag carabonara is my absolute favourite. All i do is cook the bacon and pasta and then add the cooked bacon to the drained pasta and then take the pan off the heat and crack an egg over the spag and bacon and mix it in. The heat from the spaghetti cooks the egg it a few seconds. Add black pepper and bobs your uncle.

The first time i did it i forgot to take the food off the heat when i cracked the egg and the egg was a bit scrambled but the second time i did it properly and it was gorgeous.

Oh i forgot to mention that my OH adds shaves of parmasen cheese to his just after he cracks the egg in. I am not a fan of cheese but he assures me it is lovely.

Enjoy!

mmmm.....sounds good.gonna try these.thanks

This is the one I use from the SW website. It's yummeh!!!

This creamy pasta dish is traditionally high in Syns – our tasty version is still slurpingly delicious and tiny in Syns!
Serves: 4
Syns per serving:
1½ Syn on Original (add 6 Syns if not using wholemeal spaghetti as a Healthy Extra),
3 Syns on Green and 1½ Syns on Extra Easy

4 rashers bacon, all visible fat removed
3 eggs
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
3 tbsp very low fat natural fromage frais
2 level tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
Small bunch of chives
397g/14oz cooked spaghetti

1.
Roughly chop the bacon and dry fry in a non-stick pan for 2-3 minutes. Set aside
2. Lightly beat the eggs, season to taste and add the fromage frais and 1 tbsp of Parmesan. Chop the chives and add to the mixture, reserving some for garnish.
3. Add the spaghetti and egg mixture to the bacon in the pan and stir gently over a low heat until the egg starts to set.
4. Serve sprinkled with the remaining Parmesan and chives

It's really quick to make too. I'm nearly always on EE so only 1.5 syns for the meal.
