Fruit in smoothies...

pinkelle

I'm on a mission!!!
I know that fresh fruit is free on SW but have been told by leader that if used to make smoothie, it is not free.

Fruit is the only ingredient in my smoothies, no yogurt or juice or anything so...why is it not free??

Any help? I did hear once that it was due to a chemical breakdown in the fruit, but surely it ends up the same anyway?

surely all the sugars would be released when being eaten/ digested?

I found this:

If you drink one smoothie a day and dont burn it off then you will gain 13 pounds in a year. The reason is that fruit contains sugar, its natural sugar, but its still sugar. If you eat one piece of fruit then your full aren't you? but mixing 3-4 pieces of fruit together means your having more sugar, and you feel the same as if you eat 1 piece of fruit.
They did a comparison on this program. 1 smoothy is the equivalent in sugar of 1 can (330ml) of a fizzy drink like pepsi.

Thats shocking!! Will just eat fruit normally from now on!! Thank you! :)

Hi, it's not to do with the way the sugars are released, it is to do with the amount of fruit you can consume in a small amount of time and how your body responds to feeling full after consuming that fruit.

Eg - you can put a banana, strawbs, blueberries, rasps etc in a smoothie and it can be drunk in minutes, seconds even! If you were to eat all that fruit it would take longer, your stomach will recognise the amount of fruit you are eating and you will feel fuller.

That's why it's synned. Same for when fruit is cooked.

I must admit I had one for dinner anyway!! Had strawberries, honey dew melon and a feel fuller for longer yogurt. Was delish, had about 12.30 and drank it slowly.

I'd chop up your melon and strawbs and pour your yoghurt over, your stomach (any syns) will thank you for it!!!!
