Hello

Got a problem and hoping that someone can help. I have a really important business lunch coming up and my boss has asked me to attend so we can try and clinch the contract. It will be really good for my career if we get the contract.

Problem is that my boss is real supportive of the diet but has asked that I eat something at this lunch so it doesn't look odd that I am just having water/shake.

What can I eat???????? I have no idea what will not throw the diet off course too much.

Please help :wave_cry:

maybe take a flap jack with you and eat that?
or maybe say you had lunch before? or a large breakfast?

Sugested that but been told have to at least eat something. The resturant is not the type of place you can take a flapjack into.

NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!! dont eat anything!!!

Dont let your boss make you feel bad for not eating and certainly do not let him make you feel like you HAVE to eat - you dont!!!!! Tell him where to stick it - say this is for your health, yes the contract will be great but they arent guna be too fussed if you dont eat anything, and if they are TUFF!!!

The resturant is not the type of place you can take a flapjack into.

Then dont. Order a water (no lemon or lime) and sip that.

If you have to make an excuse say you have a dodgy stomach at the minute.

Dont be pressured into eating its not his call at the end of the day weather you eat or not

Hi Lotus,
this is such a tough one and I apologise in advance for not having a pearl of wisdom for you. In these recession times, business is tough and sometimes compromise has to be made. You need to look at the pros and cons here, eating at the meal may mean a new client for your firm and job advancement for you, not eating does not necessarily mean putting off the new client, they may be impressed by your commitment to your health and believe you will also be committed to them. However your boss is the one in the midst of this that may not support the non-eating plan. He/she cannot of course force you to eat but you may feel their disapproval.
You could order salad and fish and push it around the plate for an hour without eating it, every time you lift the fork, say something instead and put it down.
Whatever you decide, I wish you luck with it.

Thanks everyone. While I agree that I really should stick to my guns and not eat my job and this contract are important as well. Have to accept that work is more important than waistline as without a job I will be totally stuffed. As my job is the type that you are on rolling contracts and the credit crunch etc any excuse and I will be top of the hit list. I am going to go with Doirin's suggestion and order a green salad and push it around the plate.

I know it's a compromise but isn't life.
