In need of advice...Fainting.

Hey Guys

Thought Id post about something that happened to me today as I need advice.

I almost fainted on the train to work this morning - it was super-crowded and really hot (having waited on the platform for 20mins in the freezing cold) and we were all standing and squashed in. I started to feel very ill, managed to get to the loo where I had the runs a bit (sorry for being so graphic). I also realised that my period had come on again very strongly.

I felt fine once I had sat down for 5 mins and used the toilet. I told my OH about it - naturally he was worried. Now he wants to discuss my diet this evening and I have a feeling he is going to try to make me quit. He wont force me at all, but whilst he has been supportive of me he still has major reservations about this type of diet.

I love the diet - I'm starting to finnd it easier, and I've never felt so motivated to lose weight. I told my LLC what happened and asked her to get back to me, but I just wanted to post here for some advice. I only had my blood pressure done last week and they said I was absolutely healthy (apart from being overweight!)

Any thoughts/tips/comments/things I can say to reassure OH?

Thanks so much.

Sorry for being so graphic BTW - but thought it was better if I gave the full picture.

Dont apologise for the graphic detail. We get alsorts on this website. Some people sometimes say that they get a bit loose with the bars. Never found it myself as I have always suffered from a bit of constipation ie only going 3 times a week if that.

I did suffer a little with dodgy periods ie elongated periods and also breakthrough bleeding inbetween.

How long have you been doing lighter life? How long had you gone without a pack or water?

If you do a search for irregular periods mini a few weeks ago gave an explanation why body start to do irregular periods. Also ask you LLC as to whether she has come across it before. I know that when the train gets packed you can feel faint without being on LL.

Hope things with husband go OK tonight

This was Minis explanation last week to someone who expected period but had not arrived but had all symptoms

Hormone levels fluctuate when you your weight changes and while for most women it does not affect their monthly cycle a good few do experience increased activity or may even stop. But once weight is reached and weight loss ceases, the metabolic rate will adjust to a new level appropriate to the new weight, and the hormones will settle down and find their own pattern again.

Hi slimbride

I've been following this diet for 7 weeks now and I have only had 1 similar occasion to yours but in the evening rather than the morning - it was on the train though! I worked out that it was because I messed about with the timing of my packs. I've worked out that I need to take them regularly to keep blood sugar levels etc steady, because of the restricted diet it is even more important. I've been fine since!

Hi,
Sorry to hear that you have had such a rough time. I get fainting and near fainting type episodes a lot since being on LL and now CD. My blood pressure has dropped such a lot. I suggest you go to your GP and get it checked, or the nurse if you can't get an appointment......do it soon !

I didn't have very high blood pressure before but my GP said it is low now but its a lot healthier for me. Low BP means not as likely to get strokes etc. He wasn't a bit concerned ! I was dead worried that he was going to say stop the diet. He said my body would be better for it and would get used to it eventually and it would stop. In the meantime not to get up too quickly, take things slow as poss in the morning etc. Sometimes it is scarey though.

Hope you can resolve it without giving up your diet, let us know !

I've nearly fainted in the shower before, and needed to sit down afterwards and drink lots of water to stop the nausea...but like Elsa I realised this was pack timing, and I couldn't get up in the morning and shower without having a pack. Maybe this is playing a part for you??

Thanks everyone for your thoughts.

I think that you are right - I hadn't eaten since the night before and had only had a glass of water so I'd imagine that my bloody sugar was rock bottom. This isnt normally a problem for me, but I think in future on the week I have my period that I'll have to eat before leaving the house instead of once I get to work.

My blood pressure has always been quite low (very lucky) and hasnt changed much - but I think it was a good point about the body catching up with the weight loss - losing a lot very quickly is good but I think you have to learn to be more in tune with your body and health than before.

Ive also just realised that I dod some excercise last night - just toning and nothing stressful but I did it after dinner so I was probably even lovwer in blood sugar than normal!

Silly me! I will eat more often I think!

It is surprising how nice commuters can be though, when someone is in a fix! They were calling into the toilet to check I was okay and one man even walked me to my office (i think he worked quite nearby) which I thought was lovely.

Thanks for all your help - makes me feel better!

Ya know I've found the same thing on the tube in London... there was once when it was packed and I was struggling to breathe (asthmatic), and quite a few people asked if I was okay and gave me water and made sure I had space... another I had the worst toothache in the world that would come and go every few minutes, and I'd just start to cry when it started (seriously that painful) and people were incredibly nice and concerned. Very lovely reactions, to be honest.

Aww sorry that you've had a rouh time but doesent it make you realise how lovely people can be! What a lovely man to go out of his way to get you safe to work! Hope things go ok with your oh!
