Hi, Can we take kelp and how much, has it helped anyone? thanks bm2lm xx

When you're SSing with CD products, you don't need anything extra - you're getting all of your daily requirement of vitamins and minerals.

Hi kelp tablets help with hairloss(according to my hair dressers) five years ago when I did a VLCD I did have quite a big amount of hair loss and used them.I dont know if they helped because my hair did grow back but it might have naturally anyway, but I think they did. I didnt start them until after I'd finished the diet though. Please dont panic if anyone is just starting CD because I think its quite rare to ge hairloss, I just happened to be an unlucky one(Mind you I've got really thick hair so it was fine!!)

Basically she's right. You are getting everything you need from your 3 or 4 packs per day and your water. You don't need to add ANYTHING - if in doubt, leave it out!

agree with the other guys if you or anyone else is onmedication for an under active thyroid you wont be able to take them anyway as it interferes kerry xxxx

Hi

I'm not sure if you're allowed them butI have always taken kelp to boost my metabolism as mine is very sluggish... would be interested to know the OFFICIAL answer to this question.

Obviously it would be best not to have anything extra to the diet, but kelp boosts hormone levels which stimulate the thyroid to increase metabolic rate. If you need an extra supply of this normally even with a good balanced diet, I can't imagine that that this would change just cos you're on a diet- CD might be great but its like saying you shouldnt take your pill because CD has all the vits and minerals you need in it!!!

If you see what I mean? x

I'm a CDC and am pretty sure that if the doctors at Cambridge felt you needed kelp in your daily diet, they would have put it into the packs.

Which pill are you referring to?

If someone is on regular medication, then they should be being supervised by their GP as well as being monitored by their CDC.

I can't see how adding something unnecessary to your diet whilst SSing is helpful tbh.

Hi,

I respect what you're saying- the doctors wouldnt put kelp in as not everyone does need kelp- but i do! I have been using it for ages and find it really helps. My doctor said it shouldnt interfere with any medication at all and it was a good idea to take it

Kelp is rich in Iodine - CD has 100% of your Iodine RDA in the packs. You do not need to take any more. Kelp also has Calcium, Iron and Magnesium again the CD packs have 100% of your RDA of each of these.
